  • 1/2 dozen mandarin fish fillets

  • olive oil

  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley leaves
  • 1/4 cup chopped dill leaves Instructions:

  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

  • Drizzle the mandarin fish fillets with olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Grill for about 4 minutes per side, or until cooked through.

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, Shaoxing wine or dry sherry, honey, hoisin sauce, 2 tablespoons of the oil and five spice powder. Reserve 3 tablespoons of the mixture for later. Place the fish in a large zip-top bag or glass dish. Pour the marinade over the fish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours. Preheat grill to medium-high heat (400°F). Remove the fish from the marinade and discard any excess marinade. Grill until the fish is cooked through and slightly charred around the edges, about 8 minutes per side. Transfer to a serving platter and sprinkle with green onions. Serve with reserved marinade.
